Crow River Area Youth Orchestra (CRAYO), CRAYO Symphony Orchestra

The Crow River Area Youth Orchestra (CRAYO) is a quality-based, reasonably priced orchestra program that seeks to educate, entertain and enrich both its members and audiences. Based in Hutchinson, Minnesota, CRAYO's members come from a sixty mile radius of Hutchinson. Formed in 1998, CRAYO is gaining a reputation for quality, a wonderful variety of music, and its positive atmosphere. We hope you'll consider CRAYO, too!

Spring Season 2012

Our first rehearsal will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 and
our Spring Concert will be held on Sunday, April 22.


Rehearsals will continue to be held at the Hutchinson
Middle School from 3:15 to 5:30 on Sunday Afternoons.

The CRAYO director for this year is Mr. Michael Zellgert.  He has served as the music director of the Woodland Community Orchestra, Long Prairie Chamber Orchestra and guest and cover conductor of the Heartland Symphony Orchestra.  His interest in music education has led him to conduct string sectionals for the College of  St. Benedict/St John's University Orchestra, clinics for high school orchestras, and he has prepared and adjudicated students for solo/ensembles and camps including the Interlochen Camp for the Fine Arts. 
Mr. Zellgert has studied violin performance, conducting and orchestral techniques at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and has performed with the Heartland Symphony orchestra as well as several regional groups such as the Minnesota Center Chorale, the Minnesota Ballet and the Duluth Festival Opera.
Michael maintains a private studioand performs with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.

Our Spring Concert will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 22 at the Hutchinson Middle School Gymnasium and the dress rehearsal will be at the same place the Sunday before, April 15. The time for the dress rehearsal will be 2:45 UNTIL 5:30.

Parent and Family Involvement:  
  Since CRAYO is a program that tries to keep tuition costs to a minimum and since we have many families with more than one child participating, it is essential that all families volunteer help with fund raising, preparing for concerts and other tasks.  Sign up sheets for these tasks will be passed out at the Parents' meetings.
